APPLYING FOR TERTIARY EDUCATION FUNDING, SUCH AS SCHOLARSHIPS AND STUDENT LOANS OFFERED BY A PUBLIC AUTHORITY OR ENTITY

If you are a capable and accomplished student but lack financial means, you may be eligible for support to ensure your right to education, as provided for under Italian law.

The main forms of support include:

  • scholarships;
  • housing and accommodation;
  • meals;
  • other benefits mentioned in the calls for applications published by the relevant authorities.

Responsible entities

Scholarships and other measures ensuring the right to education are primarily managed by the regional authorities responsible for the right to education, in accordance with the respective calls for applications.

Universities and higher education institutions specialising in art, music and dance (academies of fine arts, music conservatoires, dance academies and other institutions with similar names operating in the same sector, collectively referred to as ‘AFAM’) provide information on the services available at their respective campuses.

The Ministry of University and Research contributes to funding the system that ensures the right to education, in accordance with the applicable legislation.

  • deadlines for applying;
  • how to submit your application;
  • any authentication methods that may be required.

Costs

Submitting an application is usually free of charge unless any fees are expressly mentioned in the call for applications or in the applicable legislation.

Appeals

Appeal or review procedures are set out in the calls for applications or in the rules adopted by the relevant entities.
